Grant County OWI Arrest

November 4, 2018 at about 3:30 PM the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a call regarding a car driving on the wrong side of the road and swerving around on the highway on Hwy 35/81 coming into Lancaster, WI. The caller said that the car was a gold Impala and was completely on the wrong side of the road. The investigating deputy caught up to the vehicle on Old Potosi Rd just south of the City of Lancaster. The deputy saw the car driving completely on the wrong side of the road there as well. The deputy was able to stop the vehicleabout ¼ mile south of Lancaster.

The investigating deputy noticed a strong odor of intoxicants from the vehicle and asked the driver, James Fishnick, 61, of rural Bloomington,to perform standardized field sobriety tests which the driver was not able to complete. The driver was arrested for OWI, 3rd Offense and was
taken to Grant Regional Health Center for further testing. The driver was then booked in the Grant County Jail for OWI, 3rd Offense. He was also cited for Operating Left of Center.

The vehicle was towed from the stop by Bennett's Towing of Lancaster.

**Persons arrested by the Grant County Sheriff's Office are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. An arrest is only an
indication that probable cause exists to bring formal charges.** The names of victims and witnesses to a crime have been withheld in accordance with §950.04.
